Band 9 Model Answer
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Davis,
I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in your advertisement seeking a live-in tutor to teach Turkish to your two children for the upcoming year.
I believe I am exceptionally well-suited for this role. I am a native Turkish speaker and recently graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Over the past two years, I have worked as a teaching assistant at a local primary school, where I developed engaging, play-based language activities specifically designed to hold the attention of young learners.
Beyond language instruction, I would be more than happy to assist your family with various other daily tasks. I am an experienced home cook and would love to prepare traditional, healthy Turkish meals for your family. Additionally, I am fully prepared to help with general child-minding, school drop-offs, and light household organization to ensure your daily routine runs smoothly.
My primary motivation for applying is the invaluable opportunity to experience Australian culture firsthand. Taking a gap year to live with a local family will allow me to significantly improve my own English fluency before I return home to pursue my Master’s degree.
I have attached my resume and references, and I would be thrilled to arrange a video call to meet you and your children.
Yours sincerely,
Emre Yılmaz

IELTS General Training Writing Task 2: Mobile Payment Apps
The Task:
In many countries, paying for things using mobile phone (cellphone) apps is becoming increasingly common.
Does this development have more advantages or more disadvantages?
Write at least 250 words.
Task 2
Band 9 Model Essay
In recent years, the transition toward a cashless society has been rapidly accelerated by the widespread adoption of mobile payment applications. While there are certainly some drawbacks associated with relying exclusively on digital wallets, I firmly believe that the advantages of mobile payments, particularly regarding convenience and enhanced security, far outweigh the disadvantages.
The most prominent advantage of mobile payment technology is the unprecedented level of convenience it offers to consumers. Applications such as Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and regional equivalents allow users to consolidate their credit cards, transit passes, and loyalty programs into a single, pocket-sized device. This eliminates the need to carry a bulky physical wallet and significantly speeds up transaction times at checkout counters. Furthermore, these applications often feature integrated financial tracking, providing users with real-time insights into their spending habits, which actively promotes better personal budgeting and financial literacy.
In addition to convenience, mobile payments offer superior security compared to traditional physical cash or magnetic-stripe cards. Physical wallets can be easily lost or stolen, immediately exposing the owner to financial loss and identity theft. Conversely, modern payment apps utilize advanced encryption and tokenization, meaning the actual card details are never shared with the merchant. Furthermore, authorizing a mobile transaction requires biometric verification, such as a fingerprint or facial recognition, making it nearly impossible for a thief to misuse a stolen device.
Admittedly, this heavy reliance on mobile technology does present certain disadvantages. The most obvious vulnerability is battery life; a dead smartphone leaves an individual entirely unable to make essential purchases. Moreover, the rapid shift towards app-based payments threatens to marginalize elderly populations who may lack the digital literacy required to navigate these platforms, potentially excluding them from everyday economic activities.
In conclusion, the increasing prevalence of mobile payment apps is a highly positive development. Although the reliance on battery power and the risk of digital exclusion for older generations are valid concerns, the remarkable convenience, financial tracking capabilities, and robust biometric security measures make digital wallets vastly superior to traditional payment methods.

- Coherence & Cohesion: The essay utilizes a highly effective four-paragraph structure. Transition phrases guide the reader effortlessly through the complex arguments (The most prominent advantage, In addition to, Conversely, Admittedly, In conclusion).
- Lexical Resource: Showcases an exceptional, sophisticated vocabulary suited for a technological and socioeconomic discursive essay (widespread adoption, unprecedented level, consolidate, biometric verification, tokenization, marginalize).
- Grammatical Range & Accuracy: Uses a wide variety of complex grammatical structures perfectly, creating a highly persuasive, authoritative, and academic tone.
